Chasing Winter

The year has been mild, and I have no real complaints about that seeing how my so called four wheel drive truck doesnt work in snow except that it burns massive rubber when stuck. So I keep a shovel in the back to get myself out of a winter mess. However, there has not been much snow this winter. The flurries that do fall are what continue to make me chase after winter. With each falling I ponder what's to come...

I lay here tonight and listen to the crackel of engulfed logs set ablaze by the dancing flames leaving a trail of warm ambers. I cant help but think of previous memories beside the camp fire (although tonight I lay on the wood floor at home). Oh, how I wish I could be present in those memories again. Roasting marshmellows, watching the flames flicker about, burning mine black so the middle is melted. Telling stories to friends and looking at the stars above as we all laugh aloud. Singing praise songs to the Lord of my life and creator of this magestic world, thanking Him for each moment. Holding hands with a past loved one listening to the sounds of the wild as his hand touched mine. Playing cards, with my childhood friend Ray as a Luna Moth pundged to its flaming death (that was really sad, it hit the car table and plopped right into the fire all you heard was puff). Then there are those magical nights where you and your fellow camp buddies all take your packs prop your head on to it and snuggle into your sleeping bag and fall a sleep next to the fire, and you all take turns stoking it as to keep it going to use it to cook morning breakfast. Ahhh... I love camp fires.

Anyway Ive lost my thoughts... til next time.
